Getting Started

Starting the DKMessenger Server

Once you've downloaded and installed the DKMessenger Server software (download here), you will be prompted to start the application on the last screen of the setup program. A link is placed on your desktop to launch the DKMessenger server.

DKMessenger Server Port

DKMessenger Server uses port 1007 by default. You can change the default port from the Select Port menu option in the Server menu of the application. Note that you cannot use port 443 (the SSL port) at this time. SSL is not currently supported.

DKMessenger Setup

Once the DKMessenger Server is up and running, you'll need to configure DKMessenger to use the server. This can be set from either the Login or Setup screens.

To set the server from the login screen, click the More button to see the advanced login options. Next, check the Override default server checkbox and enter the DKMessenger Server IP Address/FQDN and port, separated by a colon, in the textbox below (i.e. 192.168.1.100:1007). Note a colon and port is needed even if you are using the default HTTP port (port 80).

DKMessenger Login Screen

Once you are pointing at the DKMessenger Server you want to use, you'll have to register a user account(s) on the server. Simply click the Register button on the Login screen and follow the normal registration proccess.
